Want to meet professionals working in the field?

Connect with professionals currently enjoying careers in Mathematics and Statistics and get the inside scoop on what it’s really like to work in these fields. This event will be preceded by a Math & Stats advising session:
  • 4-5pm: Joint advising session on programs within Math & Stats
  • 5-6pm: Pizza and Q&A
  • 6-7pm: Career Conversations Panel

Participating Panelists

Chris Wu
Math Teacher and Math Circles Instructor, Fields Institute

Chris Wu was a math major at York University and represented York in the Mathematical Contest in Modeling.  Chris has been highly active in mathematics as a Math Circles instructor at the Fields Institute, the Regional Director of the Canadian Math Society’s Invitational Math Camp held at York University.

James O’Sullivan
Group Head, Canadian Banking, Scotiabank

James O’Sullivan is Group Head, Canadian Banking.  James has been with Scotiabank since 1990, and has held senior leadership roles in Investment Banking, Mergers & Acquisitions, Finance and Asset Management. Most recently, he served as Executive Vice President, Global Wealth Management. James holds a Specialized Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from York University, a Juris Doctor degree from Osgoode Hall Law School, and a Master of Business Administration degree from the Schulich School of Business, York University.

Dr. Arthur Ryman
Chief Data Officer (retired), IBM Rational Software

Dr. Ryman was Chief Data Officer and established end-to-end architectures, standards, and best practices for how data is described, accessed, transformed, stored, queried, and presented across all Rational and related third-party development tools.

Eitan Gazit
Actuarial Analyst, Mercer

Eitan has been working in the retirement practice at Mercer as an actuarial analyst for three years. He is an Associate of the Society of Actuaries and an Associate of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries.
